How to prepare your quilt

There is a proper way to prepare your quilt for a quilter. Please be sure to do the following before you hand your quilt off to me to finish:

  • Make sure the back is as square as possible.

  • Make sure your backing fabric is at least 4 inches bigger on all four sides of your quilt. For example, if your quilt is 50x60 your backing should be 58x68.

  • If you provide your own batting please make sure that it is at least 3 inches bigger on all four sides as well.

  • Please bring your quilt to me un-basted. All layers must remain separate in order for me to load the quilt on my frame.

  • Check all seams. An open seam will cause a large tear when the foot runs across it.
